Local Elections: Carlos Moedas and Alexandra Leitão tied in Lisbon

The Now projection assigns Carlos Moedas (PSD/CDS-PP/IL), current president of the municipality, six to eight mandates, with 37.9% to 41.9%, while Alexandra Leitão (PS/Livre/BE/PAN) is projected to achieve the same number of mandates with 34.8% to 38.8%.

The remaining mandates are expected to be split between CDU (PCP/PEV coalition) and Chega, which may make its debut in the capital’s executive.

RTP reports that Moedas and Leitão are each estimated to receive between 37% and 42%, translating to six to nine mandates out of 17 total executive positions. Meanwhile, CDU, led by João Ferreira, is projected to secure one to two council seats (8% – 11%), alongside Chega (7% – 10%).

CNN and SIC projections place the list led by PSD between 36% and 42% and the PS-led coalition between 33.7% and 38.9%. In this scenario, CDU is projected to garner 9% to 12.4% of the votes, and Chega is expected to capture between 7.7% and 11.1%.

Candidates in the Lisbon City Council election include Alexandra Leitão (PS/Livre/BE/PAN), Carlos Moedas (PSD/CDS-PP/IL), João Ferreira (CDU-PCP/PEV), Bruno Mascarenhas (Chega), Ossanda Líber (Nova Direita), José Almeida (Volt), Adelaide Ferreira (ADN), Tomaz Ponce Dentinho (PPM/PTP), and Luís Mendes (RIR).

The current municipal executive comprises seven elected members from the “Novos Tempos” coalition – PSD/CDS-PP/MPT/PPM/Aliança -, seven from the “Mais Lisboa” coalition – PS/Livre -, two from CDU, and one from BE.
