Staff Sergeant Ricardo Dias of the Portuguese Army claimed the title of European Champion M40 in the 8 km race at the European Masters Athletics Championships on the morning of Sunday, October 12, in Madeira. This achievement was announced by the military branch on social media.
In the announcement, the Portuguese Army highlighted that, “in one of Europe’s largest master athletics events, our military personnel once again showed that the discipline, perseverance, and mission spirit defining the Army are reflected in sports.”
It further stated, “With the support of his family, Staff Sergeant Ricardo Dias achieved a victory that fills the Army and Portugal with pride. This triumph is also a reflection of the commitment and collective strength that unite all military personnel, both in and out of service, demonstrating that individual success stems from mutual support, leading by example, and a sense of belonging to an institution that values effort and excellence.”
