
An accident involving four cars occurred at kilometer 43.5 of the IC33 in the Grândola area, prompting road closure in both directions, according to the Setúbal Territorial Command of the GNR.
The Sub-Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of the Alentejo Coast reported several injuries, though the exact number and severity remain unspecified.
Rescue operations are being handled by firefighters from Grândola, Santiago do Cacém, Vila Nova de Santo André, Sines, and Alcácer do Sal, alongside the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) and the GNR. A total of 38 operatives are involved, using 17 vehicles and a helicopter.
Resources deployed include an emergency medical and resuscitation vehicle from Santiago do Cacém, an immediate life support ambulance from Alcácer do Sal, and an INEM helicopter based in Évora.
