A 52-year-old man was arrested by the National Republican Guard (GNR) on October 15 in the municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira on suspicion of domestic violence.
In a statement released on Monday, GNR stated that following a report of domestic violence, they went to the site where they discovered that “the suspect was perpetrating domestic violence against the victims, his 49-year-old partner and his 23-year-old daughter.”
“In the presence of the officers, the suspect threatened the victims, which led to his arrest in flagrante delicto,” the statement read.
The detainee was brought before the Judicial Court of Viana do Castelo where the following coercive measures were applied: “prohibition of contact with the victims” and “prohibition of approaching his partner within a radius of three kilometers, monitored by an electronic bracelet.”
