The Polícia Judiciária (PJ) has “in custody” the main suspect in the stabbing of José Manuel Anes, former president of the Observatory of Security, Organized Crime, and Terrorism (OSCOT). Reports indicate that the suspect may be Anes’ own daughter.
“The main suspect of the attempted murder, which occurred this afternoon in Lisbon and victimized José Manuel Anes, former president of the Observatory of Security, Organized Crime, and Terrorism (OSCOT), is in the custody of the Polícia Judiciária (PJ),” reads a statement sent by the PJ to newsrooms on Monday evening.
The statement further details that “the 81-year-old victim was attacked with a bladed weapon, sustaining several injuries and lacerations to the abdomen, hands, and legs.”
Due to the severity of the attack, he was taken to Hospital de São José.
The investigation is being led by the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Directorate of the PJ.
