The IPMA has issued a yellow weather warning for the islands of Flores and Corvo, which form the Western group of the archipelago. The warning, due to “occasionally heavy rain that may be accompanied by thunderstorms,” is in effect from 12:00 a.m. local time (1:00 a.m. in Lisbon) until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
For the Central group (comprising the islands of Faial, Pico, São Jorge, Graciosa, and Terceira), the yellow warning, for the same reasons, will be in place from 12:00 a.m. local time until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the islands of São Miguel and Santa Maria, in the Oriental Azorean group, are under a yellow warning for “occasionally heavy rain” from 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday until 12:00 a.m. on Thursday.
The yellow warning, which is the least severe on a scale of three, is issued whenever there is a risk to certain activities dependent on weather conditions.
