A 47-year-old suspect has been detained in Alvalade, Setúbal district, and was presented today for his first judicial interrogation at the Setúbal court, according to the National Republican Guard (GNR).
The court decided on the most severe coercive measure, and the man has been taken to Setúbal Prison, where he will await further legal proceedings, a source confirmed.
The Setúbal Territorial Command of the GNR announced in a statement that beyond detaining the suspect, they confiscated over 1,300 doses of narcotics, including cocaine and hashish.
The GNR reported that officers from the Alvalade Territorial Post, while conducting a surveillance operation, stopped a vehicle whose driver exhibited suspicious behavior.
During their investigation, the officers found “209 grams of hashish and two grams of cocaine” concealed inside the vehicle.
A subsequent house search resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of 749.30 doses of cocaine, 588 doses of hashish, and a vehicle used in the criminal activity.
The operation also led to the confiscation of four cutting knives, a precision scale, three bags for drug storage and packaging, and €2,401 in cash, according to the report.
The operation was supported by the Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC) of the Santiago do Cacém Territorial Detachment.
