A patient in the Palliative Care Unit at Unidade Local de Saúde (ULS) Lezíria received a special visit, getting a chance to say goodbye to her three dogs. Subsequently, the dogs were adopted by a doctor from the hospital unit.
“A patient hospitalized in the Palliative Care Unit at ULS Lezíria, part of the Integrated Palliative Care Service, was given the opportunity during her last days to bid farewell to her three dogs, which she hadn’t seen since her hospitalization at the Santarém District Hospital,” a social media post reads.
The Health Unit mentioned that this “visit was essential in bringing comfort and tranquility” to the patient, considering the “importance of these animals.”
“The Integrated Palliative Care Service extends a special thanks to the doctor at ULS Lezíria who welcomed and adopted the three dogs, ensuring they were well cared for,” it states.
