The National Republican Guard (GNR) arrested seven men, aged between 27 and 46, on charges of counterfeiting and seized approximately 23,000 counterfeit items in the municipality of Vila do Conde on Sunday.
In a statement, the military officials disclosed that the operation was part of an inspection aimed at combating counterfeiting, the illegal use of brands, and the sale of counterfeit goods in commercial establishments located in that municipality.
During the operation, the Guardsmen identified various materials displaying counterfeit features that were available for public sale. The action resulted in the arrest of the suspects and the seizure of around 23,000 counterfeit items.
The detainees were named as defendants, and the facts were communicated to the Vila do Conde Judicial Court.
The police operation was supported by the Maia Territorial Subdetachment, the Matosinhos Territorial Post, the Nature and Environment Protection Section (SEPNA) of Matosinhos, and the Matosinhos Criminal Prevention and Community Policing Section (SPCPC).
