
A 19-year-old woman was arrested by the Territorial Command of the National Republican Guard (GNR) of Portalegre on Monday, October 20, for possession of prohibited weapons in the municipality of Ponte de Sor.
In a statement, the GNR disclosed that during a patrol operation in the specified municipality, officers detected two individuals displaying suspicious behavior, prompting an approach.
Subsequent police inquiries confirmed that one of the individuals was in possession of prohibited weapons.
The operation led to the arrest of a suspect and the confiscation of a serrated knife with an 11.5-centimeter blade and a folding knife with a 6.70-centimeter blade.
The detained individual, already noted for acts of vandalism, has been named a defendant, and the facts were communicated to the Judicial Court of Ponte de Sor.
The GNR statement reminded the public that according to the Legal Regime of Arms and Ammunition, anyone who, without authorization, holds, transports, keeps, buys, or acquires any weapon listed in Article 86, No. 1, of the same decree, is committing the crime of possession of a prohibited weapon.
Furthermore, possessing an unregistered or unreported weapon, when required, constitutes a crime of illegal possession of a weapon.
