The election of Mário Amorim Lopes has been announced by the Iniciativa Liberal in a statement, which also reveals that Jorge Miguel Teixeira will serve as the vice-president of the Parliamentary Group.
Mário Amorim Lopes, a university professor with a doctorate in management, economics, and health policies, is 41 years old and was first elected in the previous legislature. Following the recent legislative elections last May, he was re-elected from the Aveiro district.
In the same statement, the new leader of the Iniciativa Liberal parliamentary bench promises to advocate for a country “where young people can stay, workers earn what they deserve, and grandparents can age with dignity.”
“In parliament, Iniciativa Liberal will continue doing what it has always done: We have ambition for Portugal and for the Portuguese, and we will honor the trust placed in us in every parliamentary intervention,” adds Mário Amorim Lopes.
Meanwhile, Mariana Leitão asserts that “the party and Parliamentary Group of Iniciativa Liberal will continue to work closely for the benefit of the Portuguese people.”
“The recent months have marked changes in the political landscape of the country, and Iniciativa Liberal will maintain seriousness and rigor in the proposals presented to improve the lives of the Portuguese, starting with the 2026 State Budget, which will be discussed in Parliament next month,” she emphasizes.
