A masked armed man broke into a residence and robbed an elderly couple in Leça do Balio, Matosinhos, in the early hours of Thursday, police sources confirmed.
According to the Public Security Police (PSP), the couple, a 72-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman, were “in bed” when they were “surprised by an individual with a masked face,” who allegedly entered through the kitchen window. The authorities were alerted at 3:00 a.m.
The suspect “showed a knife” and “demanded money and gold,” taking “several items valued at approximately 10,000 euros.” Additionally, he removed a ring from one of the victims and took both their mobile phones.
Before fleeing, the suspect locked the victims in the bathroom, from which they later “managed to open the door and escape.”
The case has been handed over to the Judiciary Police.
