The Municipal Council of Almada, located in the Setúbal district, has announced that the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Almada has ordered the immediate closure of Block A of a local educational institution due to safety concerns following a technical assessment.
As a result, students from six 4th-grade classes and six 5th-grade classes will be temporarily relocated starting Monday for approximately three weeks to the Conceição e Silva Elementary School.
The council also mentioned that it is urgently working on procurement procedures for new modular units to ensure the continuation of classes safely at the António Gedeão space.
The António Gedeão Basic and Secondary School, located in the Laranjeiro/Feijó parish, has been identified by the Government and the municipality as one of the schools requiring priority intervention.
According to the Municipal Council of Almada, the architectural project for the complete renovation of the school, with an estimated investment of around 15 million euros, is ready. The application for funding has been submitted, aiming to launch the construction tender in the coming months.
