During the meeting of the Constitutional Affairs Committee, proposed revisions to the nationality law will be voted on point by point. The Socialist party’s vice leader, Pedro Delgado Alves, expressed regret over the inability to reach an agreement with the PSD and CDS, while Chega’s deputy Cristina Rodrigues stated she would only support some of the proposals.
In the final global vote, the Government’s proposal to revise the nationality law must secure qualified majority approval, requiring at least 116 favorable votes from a total of 230 deputies, a threshold that has not yet been met.
