As autumn weather continues to unfold strongly, it is advised to keep your rain gear handy in the coming days. The upcoming night, coinciding with the clock changes, marks a period of rain and thunderstorms in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area and Alto Alentejo.
From Saturday to Sunday, expect periods of rain and possible thunderstorms in Lisbon, Setúbal, and Portalegre.
Today, ten districts on the mainland are under a yellow warning due to strong rainfall forecasts, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA). The districts of Viseu, Guarda, Santarém, Lisbon, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra, and Portalegre have warnings valid until 3:00 PM, while in Porto, the yellow warning is in effect until 12:00 PM.
Additionally, the central and eastern groups of the Azores are under a yellow warning due to precipitation until midday. In Madeira, the mountainous regions and the southern coast will be under the same warning from 6:00 PM today until 3:00 AM the following morning.
This forecast is linked to a slow-moving frontal surface, which is expected to affect the central region of the country today and later impact Lisbon and Alto Alentejo.
As for temperatures, the IPMA forecasts a slight drop in maximum temperatures in the North, Center, and Algarve today, with another decrease in the South on Sunday.
This Saturday, temperatures range between a minimum of 9°C and a maximum of 27°C on the mainland. Tomorrow, minimum temperatures will drop to 6°C in Bragança, with maximums around 22°C across most of the territory, although they may reach 26°C in Beja.
The weather in mainland Portugal, especially in the North and Center regions, is being affected by the depression Benjamim.
Don’t forget to set your clocks!
Reminder: In mainland Portugal and the Madeira Autonomous Region, at 2:00 AM, clocks should be set back 60 minutes to 1:00 AM.
In the Azores Autonomous Region, the change will occur at 1:00 AM on Sunday, transitioning to midnight.
Legal time will change again on March 29, 2026, to the summer schedule.
