José Manuel Anes responded following the attack on him that occurred on Monday at his home. The former president of the Observatory of Security, Organized Crime, and Terrorism (OSCOT) was stabbed by his daughter.
“Thank you very much for your kind messages. Still in the hospital, but recovering. A big hug to everyone”, Anes wrote in a Facebook post.
The criminalist was attacked on Monday at his residence and was later admitted to Hospital de São José in serious condition after being stabbed multiple times. “The victim had several wounds and lacerations on the abdomen, hands, and legs, apparently caused by a sharp object. He also had bruises on his eyes caused by the suspect’s fingers,” explained the Lisbon Metropolitan Police Command in a statement on the day of the attack.
Anes, aged 81, was operated on and later became stable, according to the information available the day after the attack. He is currently out of life-threatening danger.
The main suspect in the crime is his daughter, Ana Rawson, who after the attack was placed under police custody and later detained. On Tuesday, the suspect, aged 52, underwent her first judicial interrogation to apply appropriate coercive measures and was placed in preventive detention (being transferred to a prison hospital).

The attack (and the daughter’s ‘confession’)
Authorities explained, on Monday, that “at 13:54, a patrol car from the 1st Division of the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of PSP [Cometlis] was dispatched to Rua Quirino da Fonseca in Lisbon, following reports of alleged assaults by a daughter against her father.”
A witness to the incident informed authorities that they had seen a woman, “allegedly a relative of the victim,” leaving the house and, “fearing for the man’s physical integrity,” the witness entered the residence.
Cometlis stated that when this witness entered the house, they found “the 81-year-old man prostrate on the floor, covered in blood.” According to Cometlis, the witness had “knowledge of the history of domestic violence” between the victim and the alleged aggressor.
It is noteworthy that around 13:25 the same day, José Manuel Anes’ daughter, Ana Rawson, shared several posts on the social network Facebook talking about her father.
“Today, my little father is ‘on fire.’ Finally, after four years, I entered Carla Pinheiro’s house and he, amidst bites and scratches – the old man still arrogant – calling me a wh*** and saying he hates me. He said he had a fortune paid over the years by Mossad in an account in Carla Pinheiro’s name,” she wrote.
About half an hour later, she wrote: “I think I left my father José Anes without eyes, but you might hear that he died peacefully. Mossad knows how to clean scenes (don’t forget the top dentures that flew). I’ll take photos of the bottom part. The animal was tenacious but said interesting things about Camarate.”
