“Illegal gambling machine” seized in establishment in Montargil

The National Republican Guard (GNR) seized an “illegal gambling machine” from a commercial establishment in Montargil, Ponte de Sor, on Tuesday, October 21. A 51-year-old woman, the owner of the establishment, was also identified.

In a statement, the GNR noted that during an inspection of a restaurant and beverage establishment, the presence of a gambling machine, commonly known as a ‘tombola’, used for games of fortune or chance, was detected.

The GNR’s actions resulted in the identification of the establishment’s owner, and they seized 87 euros in cash, a gambling machine, a poster associated with the game, and 363 balls.

The GNR statement emphasized that “games of chance are those whose outcomes rely exclusively or fundamentally on luck, and their practice is only permitted in casinos or duly authorized and licensed venues”.
