The southern coast and mountainous regions of Madeira are under a yellow warning until 12:00 today due to forecasts of occasionally heavy and persistent rain, as well as the possibility of thunderstorms.
The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) also issued a yellow wind warning, predicting strong gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour for Madeira’s southern coast and up to 100 kilometers per hour in the mountainous areas, from 09:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday.
For the central group of the Azores (S. Jorge, Faial, Pico, Terceira, and Graciosa), a yellow warning is in effect until 09:00 today due to the forecasts of occasionally heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
The eastern group (São Miguel and Santa Maria) is under a yellow warning for heavy rain until 00:00 on Tuesday.
A yellow warning, the least severe on a three-tier scale, is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on weather conditions.
