On Saturday, emergency departments for this specialty will be closed in the hospitals of Portimão (Faro district), Barreiro (Setúbal district), Setúbal, and Braga, according to schedules reviewed by the agency at noon today.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, the obstetrics emergencies at the hospitals of Braga, Vila Franca de Xira, Aveiro, Santarém, São Francisco Xavier (Lisboa), and Leiria will operate under restrictions, only accepting cases referred by CODU/INEM.

On Sunday, references are made to the obstetrics emergencies in Braga, Santarém, Aveiro, Leiria, and São Francisco Xavier.

Over the weekend, pediatric emergencies at the hospitals of Vila Franca de Xira, Esposende (Braga district), and Beatriz Ângelo in Loures will function with restrictions, attending only cases referred by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).

According to the published schedules, on Saturday there will be 132 emergency services open across the country, along with 28 units operating under the pilot project that requires prior contact with the SNS 24 Line.

On Sunday, 133 emergencies and 27 units of the pilot project will be available.

The constraints are mainly due to a lack of specialist doctors to cover schedules. Health authorities advise the public to contact the SNS 24 Line (808 24 24 24) for proper guidance before heading to an emergency department.
