A 44-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, December 4, on suspicion of sexually abusing an eight-year-old child on a school bus in the municipality of Almeida, district of Guarda.
The Polícia Judiciária (PJ) stated in a communication to Notícias ao Minuto that the crimes occurred between January and November of this year during the journey between the village where the victim resided and the school the child attended, both located in the municipality of Almeida.
According to Notícias ao Minuto, the PJ revealed that the individual is a security guard who accompanied the children during the route.
The criminal complaint was filed with the PJ on November 5.
PJ inspectors swiftly conducted the investigation and arrested the suspect on December 4.
The detainee is scheduled to appear today, Friday, December 5, for an initial judicial interrogation to determine the appropriate preventive measures.
The inquiry is headed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) of Guarda. The man is suspected of committing two crimes of sexual abuse of children, one crime of simple bodily harm, and one crime of threats.
