
The warning is based on information provided by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), forecasting waves that could reach four meters on the north coast and 1.5 meters on the south coast of Madeira Island.
Following the warning, Porto Santo Line, the company operating the maritime connection between Madeira and Porto Santo, announced that the scheduled trips of the Lobo Marinho vessel for Monday have been canceled.
The Port of Funchal’s authority advises boat owners and operators to take precautions and warns the public of the dangers associated with movement on harbor breakwaters, cliffs, beaches, or natural swimming pools, as well as the safety conditions for recreational fishing, especially near cliffs and rocky areas.
