According to EU statistics, all member states recorded a year-over-year increase in the number of air passengers last year. Hungary (19.2%), the Czech Republic (18.9%), and Estonia (17.8%) reported the largest increases, while the lowest were observed in Sweden (1.3%), Bulgaria (3.8%), and both France and Ireland (4.6%).
Portugal showed the fourth smallest rise at 4.7%.
In 2024, among the ten EU airports with the highest number of passengers, Paris/Charles de Gaulle had 70.3 million passengers (4.3%), Amsterdam/Schiphol had 66.8 million passengers (8.0%), Madrid/Barajas counted 66.1 million (9.9%), Frankfurt/Main had 61.5 million (3.7%), and Barcelona/El Prat registered 54.9 million (10.3%).
