PSI maintains opening trend and grows 0.43% after one hour


At 9:00 a.m. in Lisbon, the PSI rose by 0.43% to 8,235.03 points, with 11 stocks showing gains and two declining.

Teixeira Duarte, Ibersol, and Mota-Engil remained steady compared to the opening, trading at 0.68 euros, 10.1 euros, and 4.72 euros per share, respectively.

The top gainers included EDP Renováveis (1.86% to 12.07 euros), CTT (1.37% to 7.42 euros), and Jerónimo Martins (1.15% to 20.20 euros).

In positive territory, Navigator, BCP, EDP, and NOS increased by 0.79% to 3.07 euros, 0.68% to 0.85 euros, 0.64% to 3.86 euros, and 0.53% to 3.77 euros, respectively.

With more modest growth, Sonae rose by 0.38% to 1.57 euros, Altri advanced 0.34% to 4.49 euros, while Corticeira Amorim and REN both climbed 0.31% to 6.47 euros and 3.29 euros, respectively.

In contrast, Galp Energia and Semapa recorded losses of 0.89% to 17.18 euros and 0.23% to 17.02 euros.

Half an hour after the opening, the main European stock exchanges experienced an upswing, anticipating the U.S. Federal Reserve’s meeting, which is set to begin today and is expected to result in a third consecutive interest rate cut.

As with previous decisions, this one will be based on newly released macroeconomic data, particularly concerning price behavior and the labor market.

Among major European stock exchanges, all showed gains except London, which fell 0.09%.

Milan (0.70%), Frankfurt (0.34%), Madrid (0.20%), and Paris (0.14%) all advanced compared to the opening.

In commodities, gold declined 0.10% to 4,213.4 dollars per ounce, while Brent crude, the European benchmark, decreased 0.11%.

Bitcoin fell 0.93% to 90,495.7 dollars.

On Monday, Wall Street ended in negative territory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.54% to 47,739.32 points, the S&P 500 declined 0.35% to 6,846.51 points, and the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.14% to 23,545.91 points.
