Urgent patients wait more than 14 hours today at Amadora-Sintra

At 08:00 today, patients at various hospitals were experiencing extended waiting times for their initial consultations. At the Hospital Prof. Doutor Fernando da Fonseca (Amadora-Sintra), 34 patients categorized as urgent (yellow wristband) faced a waiting time of 14 hours and 45 minutes.

An additional 16 patients with less urgent needs (green wristband) were waiting 16 hours and three minutes for medical attention post-triage.

At Hospital Santa Maria in Lisbon, 12 urgent patients encountered a waiting period of six hours and 43 minutes. Meanwhile, two patients classified as very urgent (orange wristband) were waiting for six hours and six minutes.

At Hospital São José, also in Lisbon, the wait was shorter, with three urgent patients experiencing a wait time of only 56 minutes.

In contrast, at Hospital Garcia de Orta in Almada, 46 urgent patients faced a wait exceeding nine hours.

At Hospital Beatriz Ângelo in Loures, the SNS portal showed that as of 08:00, 34 urgent patients waited nine hours and 55 minutes for their initial consultation, with no very urgent patients waiting.

In the North, Hospital São João in Porto reported that 19 patients with yellow wristbands were facing a waiting time of three hours and 20 minutes.

The triage system recommends that very urgent cases (orange wristband) be seen within 10 minutes post-triage, urgent cases (yellow) within 60 minutes, and less urgent cases (green) within 120 minutes.

Health authorities urge individuals to contact the National Health Service Contact Center – SNS24 (808242424) before visiting hospital emergency rooms to prevent unnecessary trips.
