To mark International Human Rights Day, the Public Security Police (PSP) announced an operation aimed at preventing all forms of discrimination and hate-motivated crimes. This initiative seeks to instill respect for differences and human rights in children and young people.
Initiated by the Safe School Program teams, the operation targets students in primary, secondary, and high schools, as well as teachers, operational assistants, parents, and guardians. It will be implemented throughout the country until Friday.
During the operation, the teams will intensify awareness efforts within the school community regarding citizenship, non-discrimination, intercultural dialogue, gender equality, and human rights.
The goal is to promote the importance of respecting differences and the significance of the creation and adherence to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In the 2024/2025 academic year, the teams conducted 4,180 themed presentations involving 78,767 students.
The PSP urges the public to report any instances of discrimination they become aware of in school settings or any other context.
Reports can be made in person or through the technical channel es**********@*sp.pt.
