“It’s still early for more concrete data, but at this moment we are at 75% in education, with many schools closed, 90% of university and polytechnic cafeterias are closed, and in the health sector, we don’t have numbers yet, but it is also being affected,” Jaime Santos, president of the Independent Union of Workers of Public and Social Support Organizations (SITOPAS), stated.
According to Jaime Santos, in municipal services, particularly in waste collection, it was indicated that this was only done on Monday, hence the strike in this sector is significant.
SITOPAS called for two days of strike action, on Thursday and today, against the Government’s proposed labor package, which they describe as a “disrespect towards workers.”
