
Unlike recent weekends, no emergency services are closed on Saturday.
On Sunday, the emergency services for this specialty are expected to close at the hospitals in Vila Franca de Xira (Lisbon district) and Setúbal, according to schedules reviewed at 4:20 p.m. today.
On Saturday, obstetric emergency services at the hospitals in Braga, Amadora-Sintra, Faro, Vila Franca de Xira, Setúbal, Abrantes (Santarém district), São Francisco Xavier (Lisbon), and Leiria will operate with restrictions, catering only to cases referred by CODU/INEM.
On Sunday, the obstetric emergency services in Santarém, Abrantes, Aveiro, and Leiria are also listed.
Over the weekend, pediatric emergency services at the hospitals in Vila Franca de Xira, Esposende (Braga district), and Beatriz Ângelo in Loures will operate with limitations, attending only cases referred by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
According to the published schedules, on Saturday, 127 emergency services will be open nationwide, along with 36 units functioning under the pilot project that requires patients to contact the SNS 24 Line in advance.
On Sunday, 127 emergency services and 36 pilot project units will be available.
The constraints are primarily due to a shortage of specialist doctors to cover the schedules.
Health authorities recommend that before heading to an emergency, the public should contact the SNS 24 Line (808 24 24 24) for proper guidance.
