Recently, the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) apprehended three men at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, who were internationally wanted under various judicial warrants.
All suspects are foreign nationals and were sought for different reasons.
The first arrest took place on Saturday, December 6. The individual was detained under a European arrest warrant for a serious sexual crime. “The detention occurred after document verification and confirmation of the international alert,” PSP stated in a communiqué sent this Friday, December 12, to Notícias ao Minuto.
In the same statement, PSP disclosed that the other two suspects were detained three days later, on December 9, during risk assessment activities for flights.
The first detainee on that day, under an international arrest warrant, was flagged for involvement “in an illicit operation of gathering deposits from thousands of investors, amounting to over 153 million euros.”
The second detainee was “identified as a suspect in structured fraud and transnational scams,” according to documentation communicated by Interpol.
The three arrests were incident-free and are part of PSP’s continued effort to ensure security at external borders, complying with international judicial warrants and working closely with the relevant police and judicial entities.
The detainees have already been presented to the Public Ministry at the Lisbon Court of Appeal for subsequent legal proceedings.
