A pastry shop named ‘Sam Pastelaria Saudável’, located on Rua Luís Augusto Palmeirim in Alvalade, Lisbon, was burglarized in the early hours of Monday.
Despite being “surprised by the doorbell ringing by police officers” in the early hours, the owners admitted on the business’s Facebook page that they had anticipated such an event, given a wave of robberies affecting the Lisbon neighborhood since December.
“Today, we were surprised by the doorbell ringing by police officers. The heart immediately races when woken up at such an hour. But with everything happening daily since December around the neighborhood and across the Avenidas Novas, I didn’t panic. Even though we pray daily for it not to happen, we knew we were a target, having only glass in the shop,” the post reads.
