GNR arrested 643 people in less than a week across the country.

The National Republican Guard (GNR) has detained 643 individuals in less than a week, with nearly 300 of these arrests related to driving under the influence of alcohol.

From the past Saturday, March 28, to Thursday, April 3, arrests across the country included 288 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol, 182 for driving without a valid license, 32 for drug trafficking, 22 for illegal possession of weapons and prohibited weapons, 19 for theft and robbery, and 11 for domestic violence.

In a statement, the security force explained that “besides its daily operational activity, it carried out a series of operations” aimed at “preventing and combating crime and road accidents.”

Provisional data indicate a total of 10,707 infractions detected during this period, with the majority (1,744) related to speeding. Additionally, 1,311 vehicles were found without mandatory periodic inspections, and 456 vehicles exhibited issues with lighting and signaling systems.

Among the recorded infractions, 536 were related to tachographs, 522 due to the lack of or incorrect use of seat belts and/or child restraint systems, 450 for driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit, 436 for lack of civil liability insurance, and 371 for improper use of mobile phones while driving.
