The government application (gov.pt) now includes the option for opting into paperless invoices, as announced by the Agência para a Modernização Administrativa (AMA), alongside revelations that it is also.
“The paperless invoice service allows receiving invoices by email. You can acquire them when making payments at supermarkets, pharmacies, cafes, restaurants, or other commercial establishments that have subscribed to the service,” explains the Government.
Thus, “simply provide your taxpayer number (NIF) for the invoice to be sent to the email you provided when subscribing to the service.”
What are the advantages of paperless invoices?
According to the Government, the benefits include:
- Less paper: Invoices are sent by email, eliminating the need to print.
- Quick access: Check your invoices in your email whenever needed.
- Easy management: You can add up to two extra emails to receive invoices and set up a PIN code to open them securely.
- Useful notifications: By associating a mobile number, you receive SMS alerts if there are any issues with the invoices.
- Simplified resending: If you delete an invoice or change the email, you can request the resending of already issued invoices. If an invoice does not arrive, use the account management area to resend it or contact the establishment where the purchase was made.
The gov.pt app has three new functionalities:
