In a statement, the PSP announced that in the past 24 hours, marking the first day of the “Police Always Present: Easter in Safety 2025” operation, which runs until April 21, a total of 88 arrests were made across the country.
Among the arrests, the PSP highlighted 37 related to traffic offenses, specifically 20 for driving without a valid license and 17 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Furthermore, the PSP reported that five individuals were detained for crimes against property, including theft, robbery, and fraud, while six were arrested for drug trafficking, resulting in the seizure of over 870 individual doses of drugs.
During the same period, 44 incidents of domestic violence were recorded, leading to the arrest of three suspects for this crime.
In terms of road traffic enforcement, the PSP issued 602 infraction notices, with 202 for speeding, 64 for failing to conduct mandatory inspections, 17 for using a mobile phone while driving, and nine for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The PSP also issued 14 fines for lacking civil liability insurance and five for not wearing seatbelts.
Regarding road accidents, 156 incidents were reported during this period, resulting in 49 injuries (48 serious and one minor), with no fatalities.
In the realm of illegal possession or trafficking of prohibited weapons, five weapons were seized as a precautionary measure or following three arrests related to possession of prohibited weapons.
The PSP urges all drivers to drive safely and avoid behaviors that might impair their driving abilities, aiming to reduce road accidents.
The PSP’s operation increased their street presence, enhancing visibility and capacity to prevent criminal activities through community policing, thereby boosting citizens’ sense of security.
