Mercadona opens a new supermarket this Tuesday in the commercial area of Sameiro, in Milhundos-Penafiel. This marks the Spanish brand’s second opening of the year in the national territory. Additionally, Mercadona has announced its next opening: May 21 in Fafe.
A statement from the Spanish group confirms, “Mercadona announces the opening date of the new supermarket in Fafe, which will take place on May 21 at 9:00 AM, at Circular Road No. 2500, 4820-521 Quinchães.”
This new supermarket, as explained, “will generate around 65 new jobs, stable and of quality, with permanent contracts from day one, thus contributing to the creation of local employment.”
“The opening of this new supermarket, which will be the first in the municipality and the eighth Mercadona opened in the Braga district, reflects the continuation of the company’s national expansion plan,” the statement reads.
Besides Penafiel and Fafe, Mercadona plans to open new supermarkets in Loures, Leiria, Matosinhos, Palmela, Lisbon, and Porto this year. According to the Spanish brand’s expansion plan, a total of 10 new stores will be inaugurated this year.
