Mercadona announced on Thursday that it has purchased €1.4 billion worth of goods from national suppliers in 2024, marking a 19% increase over the previous year. Which products are prominent?
“With a significant focus in 2024, 38,000 tons of tomatoes, 22 million liters of milk, 4,500 tons of cheese from various producing regions of the country, and an additional 2,300 tons of fresh fish from national fish markets arrived daily in the stores,” reads a statement sent to newsrooms.
The company explains that these numbers have “proved to be not only a driving force for economic and social development but also, and above all, a commitment by the company to differentiation.”
This represents a “volume of purchases that accompanies the company’s growth and ensures the supply of more than 60 stores in the national territory and also some in the neighboring country.”
Mercadona also notes that in five years, “its purchase volume has increased by 500%, from an investment of €217 million to the current €1.4 billion.”
