Luanda. Employees arrested for theft of €8,000 from the suitcase of a Portuguese-Angolan.

Two men, aged 27 and 28, who were employees of an airport service company, have been detained following a complaint made by a 73-year-old Portuguese-Angolan passenger. The passenger, who had forgotten his belongings after his flight with Angolan airline TAAG to Lisbon was canceled, prompted the investigation.

“Highlighting that from the investigative work carried out, it was possible to recover from these employees the amount of 3,260 euros and 178,000 kwanzas (approximately 178 euros), which had already been divided,” stated the SIC in a communication.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to uncover more details and apprehend other individuals involved.

On Friday, TAAG announced the cancellation of the Luanda-Lisbon-Luanda flight “due to technical reasons with the equipment,” subsequently accommodating the passengers on later flights.
