A 25-year-old man was arrested by the National Republican Guard (GNR) last Friday, May 2nd, for domestic violence in the municipality of Salvaterra de Magos, and is now under electronic monitoring.
The GNR reported that as part of a domestic violence investigation, it was determined that “the suspect exerted psychological, physical, and social violence against the victim, his 37-year-old ex-partner,” leading to the execution of an arrest warrant.
The suspect, who has appeared before the Judicial Court of Torres Novas, has been placed under the following restrictive measures: “prohibition of contacting the victim, directly or indirectly, by any means; prohibition from approaching the residence, workplace, and other locations frequented by the victim within a 500-kilometer radius, enforced through electronic monitoring; prohibition from contacting the victim’s family members by any means; prohibition from acquiring or possessing bladed or firearms, with an immediate requirement to surrender any weapons in his possession.”
The GNR emphasizes that “domestic violence is a public crime, and reporting it is a collective responsibility.”
