AHRESP proposes an intermediate VAT rate on all drinks and a reduction in the TSU.

The AHRESP has issued a statement highlighting the ongoing pressures faced by businesses due to high production costs, tax burdens on labor income, financial obligations from loans taken during the pandemic, and challenges in hiring workers.

In this context, the organization has compiled a list of 13 measures aimed at supporting the sector, which it hopes will be implemented in the next legislative term. Key proposals include reinstating the intermediate VAT rate on all currently excluded beverages, such as soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, and reducing the Single Social Tax (TSU).

There is also a push for programs to stimulate low-density regions, with a particular emphasis on micro and small enterprises in the restaurant and accommodation sectors. The goal is to achieve a widespread and effective reduction in rates and taxes, benefiting businesses and residents in these areas.

Investment-related measures call for the strengthening of corporate capitalization programs and investment support, while employment initiatives seek to reduce personal income tax (IRS) and develop programs to assist in the integration of immigrants.

In terms of fiscal policies, the AHRESP suggests that political parties adopt measures such as reducing the corporate income tax rate (IRC) and exempting certain single-use packaging, particularly those used in ‘drive-thru’ and ‘delivery’ settings, from the packaging contribution tax.
