A 33-year-old man was arrested on May 1st after being caught stealing a vehicle in the Águas Livres parish, Amadora.
The Public Security Police (PSP) responded to the scene following a report, conducting “efforts to identify the suspect based on the previously disseminated clothing description,” according to a statement released by the police on Wednesday.
“Shortly after, they located an individual whose characteristics matched the received information, while rummaging through the interior of the vehicle. The owner was contacted and informed of the situation, wished to press charges, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect,” the statement detailed.
The PSP further discovered that the man “possesses an extensive criminal background related to property crimes, as well as records involving narcotics”.
The individual, already “known to authorities for committing this type of offenses,” was brought before a court and is now subject to a statement of identity and residence.
