The Carnaxide Firefighters have chosen to pay tribute to mothers throughout the month of May, aligning this gesture with the celebration of Mother’s Day.
The first dedication was made to Chief Paula, a firefighter with 23 years of experience who joined this department eight months ago.
“Paula is a mother and a pillar of strength for her two daughters,” the firefighters wrote in a Facebook post.
For Paula, there is an intrinsic parallel between motherhood and her duties as a firefighter. “Being a mother means always being prepared, just like being a firefighter,” she expressed. “My daughters see me in uniform and understand: love is also shown through helping others,” the message continued.
“Because every day is Mother’s Day… Happy Mother’s Day!” concluded the statement.
