
On the fifth day of campaigning for the legislative elections set for May 18 and the second day of the Conclave to elect the successor to Pope Francis, the leader of the PSD will be in Fátima for an afternoon community engagement event.
Earlier in the day, Luís Montenegro will begin his morning in Figueira da Foz with an event focused on housing, followed by a visit to the city center of Coimbra. The social-democratic leader’s day will conclude in Santarém with a rally in a festive Ribatagjan atmosphere, according to the AD (PSD/CDS-PP) schedule.
The PS party will also visit the central region of Portugal. After interacting with the population in Covilhã late in the morning, the leader, Pedro Nuno Santos, will proceed to a rally at the Cine Teatro Avenida in Castelo Branco.
Further north, André Ventura will participate in an event in Braga during the morning. His schedule remains open until late afternoon, after which he will attend a dinner for the Chega party in Guimarães starting at 19:30.
The IL party will also be present in the northern region, beginning with a visit to the Póvoa de Varzim Fishing Port and later in the afternoon to Lactogal in Modivas, Vila do Conde. The party’s leader will continue his schedule until late, engaging with students in Coimbra starting at 23:00. Hours before his arrival, BE coordinator Mariana Mortágua will hold a session at the Teatro da Cerca de São Bernardo under the theme “Defeating the Oligarchy.”
For the CDU (PCP/PEV), the Communist general-secretary will attend a lunch at the Beja Volunteer Firefighters, followed by meetings in the afternoon, before heading to Faro for a rally at Jardim Manuel Bívar starting at 21:00.
Rui Tavares of Livre will participate in a discussion about culture at Escola do Largo in Lisbon, alongside Spanish Minister of Culture Ernest Urtasun and European Greens co-president Vula Tsetsi.
In close proximity, PAN spokesperson Inês Sousa Real will dedicate the fifth day of the campaign to the Cascais line, with three morning initiatives: a visit to the health center of São João do Estoril, a stop at the Carcavelos Fair, and a meeting with the SOS Quinta dos Ingleses Association.
Twenty-one political forces are contesting these early elections: AD (PSD/CDS-PP), PS, Chega, IL, BE, CDU (PCP/PEV), Livre, PAN, ADN, RIR, JPP, PCTP/MRPP, New Right, Volt Portugal, Rise Up, Us, Citizens!, PPM, PLS, and, fielding candidates only in one or both of the autonomous regions, MPT, PTP, and PSD/CDS/PPM.
