A plane operated by Sata Air Açores, which was en route between the Azorean islands of Faial and Flores, made an emergency landing on Friday on the island of Terceira due to a technical issue.
According to the airline, flight SP 570 was redirected following the discovery of a technical problem related to the aircraft’s hydraulic system.
The airline reported that the plane “landed safely at around 11:25 AM local time (12:25 PM in Lisbon), with passengers disembarking normally.”
Images of the emergency landing have since appeared on social media.
The page Asas dos Açores, for instance, shared several photos of the event, credited to Kurt Mendonça.
RTP Açores also released a video of the incident through its information channels.
Regional television reports indicated that passengers on flights departing from Lajes Airport bound for Porto, Ponta Delgada, and Horta had to disembark to facilitate the emergency landing.
The aircraft is now immobilized on the runway.
