Petrobras has reported the completion of drilling at the 3-BRSA-1396D-SPS well, located approximately 248 kilometers off the coast of Santos in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The site is situated at a depth of 1,952 meters.

The Brazilian oil company stated that the drilling process has confirmed the presence of oil through electrical profiles, gas indicators, and fluid sampling.

Petrobras will now proceed with specialized analyses to assess the conditions of the reserves and fluids identified and determine the potential of the discovered area. Additionally, the company plans to drill two more wells in the block.

The Aram block was obtained in March 2020 by a consortium led by Petrobras, which holds an 80% stake and operates as the primary operator. The remaining 20% is held by the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

The Aram block is situated in the Santos Basin, a region known for its significant oil reserves located in the Atlantic Ocean, specifically in what are referred to as pre-salt layers.

These pre-salt deposits lie in ultra-deep waters, beneath a two-kilometer thick salt layer, and currently account for 79.8% of Brazil’s oil and gas production.
