“Of the 25 facilities managed by EGEAC – Lisboa Cultura, along with those working at headquarters, the strike participation rate at this hour is 9%,” stated a company source in a written response sent to Lusa at 15:00.

This afternoon, Casa Fernando Pessoa and Teatro Luís de Camões are closed to the public, according to the source.

On the other hand, Nuno Almeida, president of the Lisbon Municipality Workers’ Union (STML), when contacted by Lusa, indicated that he does not yet have numbers but is aware that the ticket offices at Castelo de São Jorge are closed.

The union leader suggested additional information would be available on Saturday or Monday.

Employees of EGEAC, the company managing cultural entertainment facilities within Lisbon, are conducting a general strike today to demand better salaries.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the STML explained that workers are seeking a 15% increase, with a minimum of 150 euros, describing this as “a starting point in the negotiation process,” though not necessarily “the final destination.”

Meanwhile, the administration of EGEAC, according to the union, is open to an increase of approximately 2.15%, with a minimum of 56 euros.

EGEAC – Empresa de Gestão de Equipamentos e Animação Cultural, overseen by the Lisbon City Council, is tasked with the preservation, promotion, and management of some of the most iconic cultural sites in the municipality, as well as organizing the city’s festivals and other events.
