The Eurovision Song Contest is set to begin on Tuesday, May 13, with the grand finale scheduled for a week later, on May 17. A total of 37 countries, including Portugal, are competing, but only one will emerge victorious. Here’s what the polls suggest about the likely outcomes.
NAPA, representing Portugal with the song ‘Deslocado’, will take the stage during the first semifinal on Tuesday. However, should the polls prove accurate, they may not advance to Saturday’s final.
This prediction stems from EurovisionWorld, a site that compiles major betting odds, which indicates that Portugal will rank 14th in the semifinal, failing to make it among the top ten finalists. Additionally, predictions suggest Portugal might finish in 33rd place in the contest’s final voting.
Who are the favorites to win?
The surveys show that Sweden is the frontrunner with a 34% chance of winning. The country, which has won Eurovision seven times, most recently in 2023, will be represented by the Finnish band KAJ with ‘Bara Bada Bastu’.
Austria follows closely with their entry ‘Wasted Love’ by JJ, holding a 23% probability of winning Eurovision. France comes in third, with ‘Maman’ by Louane having a 9% chance.
Completing the Top 5 favorites are Israel with ‘New Day Will Rise’ by Yuval Raphael (5%) and Finland with ‘Ich Komme’ by Erika Vikman (3%).
In contrast, the bottom of the rankings includes Croatia, Georgia, Montenegro, Iceland, and Portugal, all with less than a 1% chance of winning.
NAPA, it is noted, were chosen to represent Portugal with ‘Deslocado’ after winning the Festival da Canção on March 8.
The Portuguese act will perform in the 7th position in the first semifinal on Tuesday, appearing between Sweden, the main favorite, and Norway.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will be held from May 13 to 17 in Basel, Switzerland, following Nemo’s victory with ‘The Code’ in the previous edition.
