A laboratory technician at the Hospital of Viseu reportedly drew blood from her ex-husband at home and took the sample to her workplace in an attempt to determine if he was suffering from a disease.
The story was narrated to TVI, detailing that it began when the man was recently diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection after donating blood. He discussed the matter with his ex-wife, who works in the healthcare sector and volunteered to gain more information regarding his condition.
In response, blood was drawn at home, and the sample was taken to her workplace laboratory. The complaint now being made claims that this could be a common practice among other health professionals, potentially compromising public health.
The Local Health Unit of Viseu Dão-Lafões informed TVI that it was completely unaware of the situation and indicated that appropriate investigations would be conducted.
The man has not yet received the results of his tests.
