As attendees prepare for the religious celebrations on May 13, they should be aware that rain is expected in Fátima, according to the forecast by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). This weather pattern is likely to affect much of the country, as mainland Portugal’s weather will be “influenced by a depression area, with altitude expression, centered over the Bay of Biscay”.

The IPMA indicates that on the 13th, “showers are expected across the territory, and in the southern region, they may be locally intense and accompanied by thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon”.

The wind “will blow weak to moderate from the west quadrant”.

In the Fátima region, “periods of light rain or showers are expected, more likely until the end of the morning”. The wind “is expected to blow weak to moderate, predominantly from the northwest”. “Minimum temperatures should range between 9°C and 10°C, while maximum temperatures are expected to be between 17°C and 20°C”, highlights the IPMA.

Across the continent, maximum temperatures will vary between 22 degrees in Faro and 15 degrees in Guarda. Minimum temperatures are expected to range from 5 degrees in Bragança to 13 degrees in Faro and Lisbon.
