
“The organization operated in a structured manner, with a clear division of tasks and functions, generating high daily profits estimated between 50,000 and 55,000 euros through the sale of cocaine and heroin,” stated a communiqué from Porto’s Public Security Police (PSP) issued today.
PSP remarked that this operation represents a significant blow to drug trafficking activity in the city of Porto, reinforcing PSP’s commitment to combating organized crime and promoting public safety.
On January 9 this year, the police investigation facilitated the interception and arrest of one of the leaders of the organization and the individual responsible for the production of the illicit substances.
Following the operation, a search was conducted, resulting in the seizure of 11,607 doses of cocaine, 5,130 euros in cash, one car, a motorcycle, and the recovery of two electric bicycles valued at 10,000 euros. Both detainees were remanded in custody.
On April 21, 25 domiciliary searches and two non-domiciliary searches were conducted, leading to the arrest of the organization’s leader and six other associates, aged between 21 and 43 years.
The authorities seized 14,281 doses of drugs, including 10,194 doses of cocaine, 3,826 doses of heroin, 257 doses of cannabis resin, 4 doses of cannabis sativa, and 1,050 grams of cutting agents.
The PSP also reported the confiscation of approximately 10,000 euros in cash, two cars, a motorcycle, two extendable batons, and 232 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition. The leader and one collaborator were placed in preventive custody, while the remaining members are required to report daily.
The following day, a network collaborator, whose residence served as a ‘retreat house,’ was detained and is also subject to daily reporting.
On May 5, a further police operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals, aged between 30 and 40 years, including the person responsible for managing the point of sale. Authorities seized 6,170 doses of drugs (cocaine, heroin, and cannabis resin), 1,125 euros, and a car, with the main suspect being remanded in custody.
