The municipal company of Barreiro, located in the district of Setúbal, announced that a strike is planned for the TCB (Barreiro Public Transport) from 4:37 AM on Friday to 2:30 AM on Saturday. Commuters are advised to monitor real-time service updates through the dedicated application.
The strike, organized by the National Union of Workers in Services and Entities with Public Purposes (STTS), is part of a broader public administration workers’ strike scheduled for Friday by several unions. The unions are demanding an end to low wages, the implementation of a Meal Card in Public Administration through negotiation in a Public Employer Collective Agreement (ACEP) with a tax-free daily value of 10.20 euros, and the fulfillment and revision of company agreements, collective labor agreements, and ACEPs.
The union’s strike notice specifies that, in the case of TCB, workers are also demanding the reinstatement of the career path of the Sole Transport Agent for the Municipalized Public Transport Services of Barreiro.
For workers on rotating shifts, the union explains that if a shift cycle starts after 8:00 PM on Friday, the strike can extend from the start of the cycle through to the end of the respective cycle on Saturday.
If the shift cycle begins after midnight on Saturday, the strike can last for 24 hours.
