In his final campaign speech, delivered at the closing event in the gardens of Largo do Rato, the headquarters of the Socialist Party (PS), Pedro Nuno Santos addressed supporters just after 11 p.m., reiterating key arguments he has championed throughout the campaign. He expressed strong confidence that the socialists will “celebrate a great victory” on Sunday.
“We will be the ones to ensure political stability in Portugal for the next four years,” he asserted.
Besides aiming to defeat the Democratic Alliance (AD), the PS leader declared that he would also “defeat the polls for the third consecutive time.”
Commenting on the AD, Pedro Nuno Santos was candid in his criticism, stating: “not only are they neither serious nor transparent in politics, but they have also proven to be incompetent.”
“They must be penalized for systematically deceiving the Portuguese people,” he argued.
The PS leader reiterated his plea “for votes not to be scattered on the left.”
“We need votes to be concentrated on the PS to avoid any risks,” he urged.
