The National Republican Guard (GNR) seized over 500 counterfeit items from a commercial establishment in Vila Nova de Santo André, Santiago do Cacém, on Wednesday.
In a statement released on Friday, the authority reported that officers “discovered various counterfeit items displayed for sale from several well-known registered brands” during an inspection operation.
A total of 545 counterfeit articles, including clothing, footwear, and fashion accessories, were seized, valued at 5,680 euros.
The operation led to the identification of the shop owner, a 37-year-old man, and the case was referred to the Judicial Court of Santiago do Cacém.
The statement from the authority emphasized that “the main objective of such operations is to ensure compliance with industrial property rights, primarily aimed at combating counterfeiting, illegal use of trademarks, and the sale of counterfeit goods.”
